Some new stash......

On my last visit to Craft Den I was rummaging through some sales boxes and found these great beach embellishment and stickers for just 99p a sheet! Lynne showed me the range of papers that go with them and only 50p a sheet! Well I couldnt resist! The range is from Creative Imaginations...I love them! Ive had these photos for a while as Daisy is not even one year old! She is on the beach at Chapel Point, helping my friend Duncan fly his kite!

Had a great day out...

We had a great day out at Whirlow Hall Farm, Big G came second in the Dog Show for the Best Rescue Dog. Daisy had fun on the agility course, even if the instructor said she needed to lose a few pounds!! She takes after her mum. The weather was amazing, there wasnt a cloud in the sky all day. I took these pictures when we got home, George is showing off his rosette!

At the weekend I saw a great tutorial on 52 weeks to make cute Pinwheels. I could'nt resist them so Ive put them on a page for Isabel....I made the OH eat two Lollipops just to make this page! LOL!

Family History....

My best friend Norma has been helping me trace my family tree. She is a whizz at it...I now know I am related to the Rowley's and the Else's. I think we are going grave stone hunting next week. I cant wait!

In preparation for tracing my family tree I raided my Mum's old photos. This photo is taken in 1952, it is my Grandma and Grandad Thompson's wedding....unfortunately neither of them are with us now. My Mum identified all the relatives so I could show Norma and put a face to all the names she has been working with to follow my family tree.

I went to my regular class at the Craft Den last Thursday....It was lots of fun! As always I scrapped my Niece Isabel! And as usual Ive crammed as many phots as I can on the page...LOL!

We used paper from the Blond Moments range and it was great fun to add all the faux stitching on. The flowers were made from a Sissix die and we also used the Retro and Martha Stewart punches. I added a title...Tub Time, thanks Kathryn for the suggestion! Looking forward to next week's class ........

Better get off as still in my PJ's and we are having a day out at the Whirlow Hall Farm Fayre...hope the weather stays fine!

What a sad day.....

My teenage heart throb as passed away...Patrick Swayze RIP. I remember as a teenager when Dirty Dancing was released at the cinema, I went to see it over 10 times, often leaving school early.....it was my final year! I know that's no excuse.

Patrick Swayze was amazing in Dirty Dancing, I love his other films too, Ghost, The Outsiders, Point Break and even the not so well known ones! He plays a great woman in To Wang Foo along with Wesley Snipes!!
Back in 2006 he appeared in the West End in Guys and Dolls playing Nathan Detroit. We couldnt miss the opportunity to see him in real life. It was a day to remember, we waited by the Stage Door to meet him! I felt like a teenager again!
I've hidden my journalling under the theatre ticket.......

We have also been to see the West End version of Dirty Dancing, the stage show was great. Ive never completed a scrapbook page without any photos but was inspired to for our visit to London to see the show!

What a weekend....

What a weekend! Why does everthing happen at once! I went to Leicester on Friday with my quilting friends to a fabric warehouse. When I got home I couldn't find my purse. I'd last had it in the pub where we stopped for lunch....so after a few worried phone calls, luckly it had be found in the pub at Leicester!

I was going to the Great Northern Papercraft Show on the Saturday with no bank cards or anyway of getting money out of my account! What was I going to do...you cant go to a craft show without bringing back loads of goodies! I had to borrowed some money. The Papercraft show was great though and I came back with a few goodies. I can recommend losing your purse as an excellent way not to overspend at a Craft show...LOL! So today I have travelled back to Leicester to recover my lost purse.

In between my journeys this weekend I have finished off my Tag for the Swap I volunteered for from Sue at http://www.countrypleasures.blogspot.com/. Everyone knows how much I love my dogs so I have based my Tag design around them. Here's the front.....

This is the back I decided to keep it simple!

My crafting friends made up for me not spending much at the craft show...They bought some new cartridges for their Cricut machine but as they are going on holiday this week they kindly let me have a play with them first. It was great fun, I love the lettering and flourishes on the Storybook cartridge. I got out my scrap box of paper and starting playing, the next time I noticed it was past midnight! I couldnt let them go to waste so I have completed a layout with them on.....

The picture is of my Mum and Brothers taken over 10 years ago. I must find out where, I can see the pier and the pebbley beach, it must be down South????

Altered frame class at the Craft Den....

WIP

Yesterday I attended a class at Craft Den to make an altered box frame. The class was great, Lynne guided us through the process clearly and by lunch time we had the frame painted and ready to decorate. Everything was laid out for us to decorate our little frames. I was like a big kid in a sweet shop, there was so much to choose from. I especially like the clock handles and the cute little crowns! The girls kindly let me take a picture of their finished frames so here goes.......

Norma

Jo

Sue

Jane

I must say a big thank you to the girls, for their great company and for being so helpful. I was a bit overwhelmed at working in a small scale. I think I followed Sue around for hour learning how to use alchol inks, I ask too many questions!

Canvas scrapbook pictures

I love to make canvas scrapbook picutures, I have one of Daisy and George. Well, BJ had been with us nearly 5 month so I thought it was about time he had one too! I have used the 52 weeks sketch #35 as my layout. Meet Mr Bo jangles....

I have painted the canvas with Claudine Hellmuth semi gloss acrylic paints. You can get them from the Craft Den, they have some scrummy colours! I have used Classic Teal and Sabel brown. I have printed with bubble wrap on top of my base colours. Here is a close up of BJ, he has a circle of bling around him!

And not forgetting my other two, here are their canvases, so BJ can join them!

Ive been busy!

A few weeks ago my best friend Norma invited me to have a play day at her house! We had great fun decorating paper, we tried out a number of techniques from the Masterclass: Background Papers, by Gail Milburn in The Crafty Stamper. We printed with bubble wrap and wallpaper.

Norma's neighbours called round a few times, we had all the papers laid out on her kitchen floor drying, they must have wondered what the hell we were up to!

These are my final set of papers, we coloured some tags to match and stamped on some pages out of an old book to use as embellishments.

I have been wondering what to use them for....The Craft Den's ATC challenge for September is Travel and my ATC group from Sheffield has the theme of Out of Africa, so I have decide to kill two birds with one stone! The Out of Africa challenge must be a pop up card so here's how I have fufilled the challanges.

Last night's scrapbooking class

Here's my finished page from last night's class at the Craft Den. Lynne kept us very busy with this page, it was thoroughly enjoyable though! I have added a chipboard letter title. I painted the letters with Claudine Hellmuth paints Classic Teal, it matches the papers perfectly, then I inked the edges with black ink.

I'm in Crafty Stamper......

I went to an evening craft class at the Craft Den tonight.....when I walked in they all commented "we've just be looking at that face" My first though was what have I done now! They replied...."You are in the Crafty Stamper magazine!" Im on page 30 (bottom left)!

I'd forgotten I posted one of my scrapbook pages that had been inspired by the magazine's sketch challenge in July. It was a lovely surprise. I am thrilled to bits, it was the first time I have sent anything into a magazine so it is great to be published. This is the original page.....

If you want a copy they are selling like hot cakes from the Craft Den...I promised it has got nothing to do with me being in it...LOL!
